Comic Books Can No Longer Contain Their Super Characters

By Rebecca Worthlin

The general public is no stranger to the comics; most people can remember reading one at one point or another. And while most don't proclaim it from the rooftops, we LIKE the ideas portrayed in traditional comic books. They give us good guys fighting bad guys. They offer justice and fairness and action and all of this depends heavily on the most important aspect of all: the superhero!

Hollywood is aware of the public's secret adoration for super heroes. We can all be sure of it considering the seemingly endless stream of big screen depictions of comic book super heroes.

And we don't just love the super we get in our random does of comic books or movies...most of us have the super in our day to day lives. The majority of the general public may visit an old time corner store now and then and feel like they miss the good old days, but their day to day habits work in direct opposition to their nostalgia. There are enough people willing to shop at the nearest super store that they make a profit even though they are right there on every corner every time anyone turns around.

Why do we do this to ourselves? We do it because it's convenient.

We might have high ideals and theories about the way it should be, but when it comes right down to it and we have one hour in which to obtain four 60 watt light bulbs, a gallon of white interior paint, 4 avocados, a roll of Forever stamps, 3 bags of crushed ice, toilet paper, Nyquil, 2 slushies for the kids, a box of copy paper, a gift for the neighbor kid's birthday party, shampoo, fresh flowers, bread, crayons, a new mystery novel, a greeting card, milk and snacks for the kids' lunches; we don't want to visit 6 different stores. We don't have the time or the inclination. So we go super.

It's not just you and me, either. It would seem that a vast majority of "them" are also frequenting the superstores. They wouldn't stay open just for the two of us.

And the super philosophy isn't stuck on small purchases, either. Cars have gone super. Well they don't fly yet, but maybe someday. For now the dealerships are going superstore on us!

Honda Cars of Mesa took their 31 plus years of experience making car buyers happy in the Valley, and went super! The superstore is sweeping the nation and these changes are definitely reflected at a local level here in the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix continues to grow and change and it's evident with Honda Cars of Mesa.

They moved to a new location in Chandler and took on a new name: San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler. Changing times mean changing industries. And changing industries mean changing names. And that's not all.

San Tan Honda Superstore of Chandler is 14 acres filled with cars of every description (made by Honda, that is) right in the San Tan section of Loop 202 and Gilbert Road. They're super abilities include, but are not limited to: more Honda cars than any other dealership in the state, super service (they've 44 service bays and a separate express service area), and a state of the art showroom right in the middle of their super sized 105,000 square foot building. Did you think we were done. We're not.

They also offer customers onsite courtesy shuttle service as well as rental car availability and extended hours of operation. Now how's that for improving what doesn't need to be improved?

So don't feel bad if you can't remember the last time you read a comic book. And don't feel bad if you haven't yet made it to see any of the fabulous and not so fabulous, modern depictions of the classic super heroes on the big screen. You don't even need to pretend anymore. Your life has become super on its own. Just head to the nearest superstore or super-dealership and get a little taste of what it means to get exactly what you want when you want it with a few extras thrown in for good measure. It's super.
