Insuring your Vehicle

By Kay Riter

Insurance is a way to help keep you safe. It ensures that you'll be cover in case of a problem. Car insurance keeps you covered during car accidents. If you get into an accident and you have car insurance, you will be covered up to what was predetermined on the policy you previously set up.

It's almost like setting up an emergency fund for car accidents. You'll have your accident taken care of, except you are covered for as much as your policy is set up for. You aren't actually using the money you gave them.

Today, insurance is available for just about everything. You can insure your car, house, boat, health, life, jewelry, electronics, or yourself in case of disability. Insurance ensures that you'll be covered in case something unexpected happens. You could end up getting into accident after accident or you could go a lifetime without getting an accident, but you would still need insurance to keep you covered just in case. Of course, I hope nobody will ever experience getting into frequent accidents, or an accident at all.

By law, you have to have your car insured in order to drive it on the road. You might hate paying for insurance every month, but you'll be glad you did if you ever get into an accident. It doesn't matter what causes an accident, if there's damages, you're going to have to fix it.

If your car is totaled in an accident, it would cost you a lot of money if you didn't have insurance. When a car is totaled, it means it will cost more to fix than the car is worth. This is why older cars are often totaled more easily.

When shopping for car insurance, don't just go with the cheapest insurance you see. You'll probably end up paying more in case of an accident, and will likely pay more in premiums over time. The cheaper the insurance, the less coverage you'll usually get. When you're in an accident, you want your insurance company to pay as much as possible and you want to pay as little possible out of pocket.

If you really want to save money on car insurance, drive safe. Safe driving will save money in countless ways. Of course, the most important thing is that you save lives, and safe driving will do this as well. If you drive safe and get into no accidents, over time, your premiums will go down. If you drive recklessly and get into accidents often, your insurance will go up at each accident.

Ultimately, make sure you have the best car insurance you can afford, drive safely and defensively, and keep the roads safe. Hopefully in time your payments will get smaller and smaller as you prove you are safe on the road. - 2368
