Lower Your Golf Score At David L. Baker Golf Course

By Golf Buddy

Most golfers would like to lower their handicap but have few methods to accomplish that feat. However, the David L. Baker Golf Course, located in the heart of Orange County, is set up to make that happen. The course is a par 62 medium length course that allows golfers to play on tight fairways with plenty of hazards. Not only will a golfer increase his confidence while playing in these conditions but the short par threes will help increase the accuracy of an average golferas short game.

The par fours at David Baker max out at just around 320 yards, so you have two options to tackle these tight fairways. The big-hitters approach, of course, is to break out the Ping or Callaway driver and go for the green.

This works if you're accurate but most golfers need to work on their accuracy. So why not take out a five iron, follow it with a wedge and knock in that ten footer for birdie. All the while youall be working your short game.

The iron followed by wedge approach on the par fours fits with the "improve your golf score" mantra that is part of the David L. Baker Golf Course philosophy. This approach also extends to the par threes where golfers will be able to further practice their iron play.

You probably know we drive for show and put for dough. So a good short game will help you lower your handicap.. Baker's par threes will let you work on your iron game no matter what your skill level is. You'll be able to reach the par threes with a seven iron or less so you'll be able to focus on your short game: pitching, chipping and putting.

You'll be tempted to go for the pin on these shorter par threes. However there are plenty of hazards that will make you think twice. If youare not careful you could easily turn a birdie into bogey or worse.

And this is where golfers will get another chance at improving their game. Gaining the ability to navigate water and sand hazards is a critical step in becoming a low handicap golfer. Staying dry and avoiding the beach leads to a more enjoyable time on the course and a game that travels well when playing other courses.

There is no shortage of obstacles on the course either. You'll be able to take advantage of the course design to practice shots you wonat normally see on a longer golf course. So why not practice while playing 18 at the David L. Baker Golf Course. Say hello to a single digit handicap. - 2368
