Every Engine Particular Engine Oil

By Michael Kaufman

Once a vehicle owner becomes educated enough about engine oil to realize that there can be a significant difference between the various brands and types of oil on the market, a quest begins to find the best motor oil for their vehicles and/or equipment. This article and those that follow are designed to shed just a bit of light on how that quest should progress in order to REALLY find the best oil for YOU.

Extraordinary Engine Oil Paradise

The most common miscalculation that many people make when beginning the search for their "ultimate oil" is that they tend to assume that the "best oil" will be best for everyone. They are looking for some magical motor oil utopia. But, the unfortunate reality is, the utopia they seek simply will not be found.

It really is not at all possible for a single oil to meet the needs of every situation. I'm sure that's probably obvious to most. But, it is also not possible for a single BRAND of motor oil to perfectly fit the needs of every user. For instance, although a premium synthetic engine oil like AMSOIL, Redline or NEO may be of higher quality than most, that does NOT make any of them the best choice for everyone.

That is why it is imperative that an individual come to an understanding of the exact lubrication needs of THEIR application before it will be possible to find their best oil. Once the needs are known, it's time to learn a bit about motor oil so that you'll know which lubrication characteristics will be most important for meeting those needs. Lastly, find the oils that offer the best of those characteristics.

Only by following this pattern can you really make an educated decision regarding what oil will be able serve the needs of your application(s) and keep your vehicles and equipment running well in the long term.

The oil selections made (synthetic or petroleum, 10w40 vs. 15w40, CJ-4 or CI-4) are likely of little consequence, no matter what any oil distributor tells you, except in the sense that the choices made should be those that will best serve your engine's needs. As long as they meet these needs, it really will not much matter what oil or brand you decide to use. - 2368
