By Daniel Q. Floyd

If you enjoy volunteering, then you should think about Costa Rica for your next trip. After many years of volunteering in many other countries and U.S. cities many people have found the great need for their services in Costa Rica. Beautiful country, beautiful people and amazing programs to work with.

You can help in this part of the world by lending you assistance with preservation of the rich and exotic wonders trying to survive against ecological threats from today's environment. Costa Rica has such a varying landscape of natural wonders like exotic flora and local fauna, it is in need of our help to preserve these great wonders.

There are many social problems growing here in Costa Rica. Education and malnutrition are tops on the list. While 95% those who are in school here in Costa Rica are literate, we worry about those who are falling through the cracks due to the parent's inability to get them to school or pay for items needed for school.

Volunteering here will give you an amazing opportunity to discover many of the different areas of Costa Rica. IN addition to being the helping hand that some only hope for. You can be the one changing the lives of so many in such a small way.

Back in the 1950's Costa Rica abolished their army. They have continued to remain a peaceful and safe country for tourists and volunteers. Put your fear and worries aside while traveling and volunteering in Costa Rica, safety is not an issue.

Costa Rican's are very proud people and are wonderful caregivers to their children. That is part of the reason they find it hard to ask for help with their families are struggling. You as a volunteer could bring some much needed but not asked for help to those who are in need.

If you are worried about your Spanish, or lack of it, you can also plan a short Spanish course upon your arrival. But not to worry, the locals are all very understanding of those who don't speak their language. What better way to learn than by being immersed in this amazing culture. You will surely be a pro by the end of your trip.

So if you are looking for something to do with yourself, volunteering is a great way to give back. There are many people who are less fortunate or have landed or hard times with the economic crisis our world is facing and we should always try and do something to help others. Costa Rica is a fantastic place to explore for volunteering. And what a beautiful place to do something good.

Just remember these simple facts before heading off to your next amazing experience. Costa Rica is safe and there are many agencies available for you to research. And most importantly, bring your kids. What better gift can you give them than the gift of giving back? - 2368
