Hasselbeck Out For Seattle Seahawks
The 08's season for the Seattle Seahawks was an utter disappointment finishing 4-12. The Seahawks caught the injury bug and no one was able to stay healthy, thus the bad record.
The 09's season started off well with a win against the St. Louis Rams - who are in the process of rebuilding their team. The Seattle Seahawks finished third in the NFC West last season with a 4-12 record, Seahawks can not go through another season like that.
Flashes of that returned last week, when Hasselbeck was forced out of the Seahawks' game against the San Francisco 49ers during week 2 of the 2009 NFL season.
At the goal line, Hasselbeck was hit hard by 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis, and was forced to leave the game. Some x-rays conducted later revealed that Hasselbeck had suffered a bruise to the ribs, and his status for the team's week 3 game against the Bears at home is in doubt.
A game against the Bears would surely be difficult to win without the team's premier quarterback, so they're hoping he'll be at their side when it comes down to game time. With Jay Cutler running the show for the Bears, the Seahawks defense will have some issues.
The Seahawks looked great in an easy week 1 victory against the visiting St. Louis Rams, blanking them by a score of 28-0. Let's keep in mind that the Rams were one of the worst teams in the league last season, so this doesn't prove much.
The Super Bowl days for the Seattle Seahawks may be gone but that doesn't mean they can't compete and give opponents trouble every game.
If the Seahawks can stay healthy for the majority of the season they are an easy 8 win team -- which is double the wins from last season. The Seahawks have their coveted "12th man" with the home crowd which makes it difficult for opponents to play them on their own turf. - 2368
