Latin and Indian cultures intermingle, and the Hindu religion is still widely practiced in Goa despite the duration of the Christian influence.
It looks very Mediterranean with its narrow streets and tiled red roofs, but when you taste the food you will know that you are in India. The vindaloos, curries, and tandoori are delicious, but if you fancy Portuguese fare, try the Goan chourisso, you won't find better.
For the very best in customer service and hospitality the Goan's cannot be beaten. The food is fabulous, accommodations fantastic and you can even find a local port wine. The best drink to my mind is feni, which is a combination of coconut and cashew. Strangely enough, or perhaps not so strange, is that a similar drink is served in Brazil, another country which was colonized by the Portuguese. - 2368
