India Holidays, Pack Your Bags And Visit Magical Goa
Have you ever thought of holidaying in India, many people have, but it is a very far land and can be strange as well as completely different. If you are the adventurous type, India holidays could be perfect for you.
This is a spell binding sub-continent, filled with diversity, mystery, ancient civilization and wide-spread beauty. Eco systems are so diverse that you find the Himalayan mountains, western deserts, southern evergreen forests, and all types of different terrain. India is also the home of the "pearl of the orient", Goa.
Goa is also a travelers' paradise and some people believe that it is the best part of the Indian peninsula. This is saying something as the Indian peninsula is 6 700 km long. Goa encompasses some of the most breathtaking natural beauty. Beautiful sea, long, golden sandy beaches, lush forested hills, essentially a tropical paradise!
The Portuguese discovered Goa for the western world when they were traveling in search of the spice islands, they populated it and dominated it for 450 years. In a way this is what makes Goa so special, the combination of exotic India together with a Mediterranean atmosphere. Latin and Indian cultures intermingle, and the Hindu religion is still widely practiced in Goa despite the duration of the Christian influence.
It looks very Mediterranean with its narrow streets and tiled red roofs, but when you taste the food you will know that you are in India. The vindaloos, curries, and tandoori are delicious, but if you fancy Portuguese fare, try the Goan chourisso, you won't find better.
For the very best in customer service and hospitality the Goan's cannot be beaten. The food is fabulous, accommodations fantastic and you can even find a local port wine. The best drink to my mind is feni, which is a combination of coconut and cashew. Strangely enough, or perhaps not so strange, is that a similar drink is served in Brazil, another country which was colonized by the Portuguese. - 2368
